Episode 22 - Dark Friday (parts 1 and 2)

Blip was being cantankerous, so Episode 22 is broken into two parts. Part 1 contains all the knitting and spinning content. Part 2 is a pep talk for anyone interested in a low-consumption holiday.

Dark Friday is explained in Part 2. If you don't want to watch that part, but are curious about the title... Bill and I are turning off all our electronic devises on Thanksgiving Thursday (our computer, but if we had them it would also be our TV, cell phones or tablets) and leaving them off through the following weekend. On Friday, we are also having "no light night" where we'll use candles and lanterns as our light that evening. We're going to spend the quiet time reading, talking, eating great food and playing games.

Raspberry Shrub from Homemade Root Beer, Soda, and Pop by Stephen Cresswell
2 cups of raspberries (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
2 cups sugar

Place raspberries in small pot. Cover with vinegar and mash with a potato masher (or blend with stick blender). Heat on low, adding sugar gradually until all has been dissolved. Bring to a boil then remove from heat.

Strain into a clean vessel (I used a Ball Jar). Allow to cool. Refrigerate.

To make a glass of drink: stir 1/4 cup of mixture into a glass of water and add ice. Enjoy!
